We recently returned from a trip to the China Top Show flying event.
This event was a funfly/competitive aerobatic event that saw China's best pilots descend on the city of Huizhou. Joining us was Ido Segev, the 2011 European Extreme Flying Champion and the 2017 champion in Martin Brandmuller. It was a great experience and we were lucky to experience all that China has to offer. You can see all that went on by visiting our YouTube channel here. A full write up will feature in the next edition of Flat Out RC magazine coming this November. How much work have we got ourselves into?
The decision to start a hobby magazine involves a significant commitment especially when you want it to be better than anything else out in the Aussie marketplace. Not only are we going deeper into additional product categories such as drones but paying significant attention to the detail such as the magazine layout, photographs and general quality of content. It's impossible to please everyone and we understand not everyone is into reading magazines but we are not trying to convert the world. Just enough people to allow us to pay the bills that allow us to keep this magazine at the quality we strive for. There are plenty of ways we could cheapen the magazine like print on smaller, lower quality paper, rely on random contributors to write all our content, not shoot videos, record podcasts and take away an email newsletter. If we did that then we would be like everyone else and everyone is is not something we aspire to be. We want to special as that is what the readers are looking for. Our team is small and we have many other aspects of our business that we need to pay attention to as well. With all these challenges you could think that we are crazy but its amazing what crazy people can achieve with a bit of hard work. Being the new kids on the block we know that our work will be highly scrutinized but hey.... we can only improve as we are starting with nothing. I hope you join us on the crazy ride and help us keep FLAT OUT RC alive. |
